Pet-Friendly TLA Approved Hotels
Moving to Hawaii is exciting, but it can be stressful as well! You must book your flights, make sure your household goods are in order, book a hotel, and everything in between. If you have pets you’re bringing, then that stress can be magnified! One of the most difficult things to do is find a hotel within your TLA (temporary lodging allowance) that allows pets. That is one thing in itself, but you want to find somewhere that does not have an expensive daily pet rate, pet weight limit, is not in an ideal spot, etc. This article will showcase a few popular hotels in no specific order around O’ahu that military families rave about for staying with pets!
Best Western The Plaza Hotel

This hotel is your average mainland type of hotel. The PCS Planners have personal experience here and definitely recommend it if you’re stationed at Schofield Barracks or work on Wheeler Army Air Force Base as it’s the closest outside of the base.

Pet-friendly rooms are in a separate building on the same property as your pet-free rooms.

- There is a gift shop with smaller food items in the lobby.

Airport Honolulu Hotel

This hotel is right next to Best Western The Plaza hotel as they’re sister hotels. Due to this, Les Nishimura is the liaison for both hotels! The main difference between these hotels is that Best Western has breakfast while Airport Honolulu does not. However, you are given per diem which helps with any food!

The Surfjack hotel is ranked one of the best pet friendly hotels within the military community. The rooms are a little nicer than average, but not has luxurious as you may experience in the Honolulu/Waikiki area.

The Navy Lodge is located on Ford Island. The island itself is beautiful with easy access to the beach. There are also multiple places to visit and eat at within the area.

The Queen Kapiolani Hotel is another one that is ranked highly as a pet friendly hotel with a great location! Depending on the room type you get, you can have an amazing view! This hotel also has great quality customer service and will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great.

Remember that the hotel website will not show you the military discounts so you may see prices on there that are not applicable to military families. The military liaisons for these hotels are amazing to work with and will help you every step of the way with booking your stay. Also keep in mind the location! Additionally, each branch of service requires different things before booking a hotel, so make sure you have all of the information before booking. We can’t wait for you to experience Oahu!
